Important update for Australian Guineas Day

It’s going to be a hot one for Australian Guineas Day this Saturday but we’re making some changes to ensure you stay cool.

With a forecast temperature of 36 degrees, race times have been brought forward to avoid the hottest part of the day and we’ve made some key changes to ensure the comfort and welfare of everyone on the day.

Gates opening

Gates will now open at 9:55am with the first race at 10:55am and the last at 3:20pm. With horse welfare our top priority several measures have been put in place, including misting fans in horse areas and an additional vet in attendance to monitor the condition of horses.

Shuttle Bus

With the earlier start time, buses will run from Ascot Vale train station to Flemington taxi rank from 7:30am – 11:30am.

Trains will run from Flinders St and Southern Cross stations on the Craigieburn line through to Ascot Vale train station between 9am – 10am.

From 10am – 11:30am one bus will operate an on-course shuttle between the top of the Wetlands and the Flemington taxi rank.

The Club Stand and The Grandstand

All venues in the Members Enclosure will open at 9:55am to coincide with gate opening time.

Dining venues will operate a normal service on Saturday, with The Atrium commencing buffet service 30 minutes prior to the first race and The Byerley and The Dining Room commencing a la carte service upon Member’s arrival.

Last drinks within The Members Enclosure will be at 6:30pm with a 7pm close time.

Other changes include:

  • Horses will parade in the Mounting Yard for reduced periods of time.

  • Bottled water and icy-poles being readily available for all racing participants.

  • Misting fans and additional umbrellas will be set up around the racecourse.

  • The Family Lawn will offer water play and sprinklers to keep the kids cool.

It’s going to be a great day out, so bring the whole family along for a day of excitement and fun!
