Despite the conclusion of Lunar New Year celebrations around the city, Flemington is keeping the festivities rolling. Read on to find out which of Melbourne’s favourite Asian restaurants will be on course and what activities and live performances will keep you entertained.
Yum Cha On The Lawn
We’ve partnered with iconic Melbourne restaurant Oriental Tea House to bring Yum Cha to the Front Lawn with dumplings, spring rolls and steamed buns. There will be beef, pork, duck, seafood and vegetarian options available.
Bao X Waffle
Using quality ingredients sourced from local farmers, Bao X Waffle takes on the traditional concepts of a Taiwanese Gua Bao and a waffle from the American South. Dig into braised pork belly sandwiched between a waffle drizzled in maple syrup.
Bringing Vietnamese eats and BBQ to the streets of Melbourne, the team behind Cô Hạnh is full of creativity, soul & passion. Grab a Bánh mì, which combines a crusty baguette with flavoursome fillings.
Red Spice Road
Home to Melbourne’s favourite pork belly, Red Spice Road has been dedicated to bringing you all the flavours and energy of Asia with a dash of Australian style. Be sure to try the wagyu bacon cheeseburger spring rolls.
Tiān38 brings new school Chinese to the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on Flinders Lane. They’ll be slinging their signature Singaporean chilli crab jaffles, free range Hainan chicken rice bowls and bubble teas.
Baked fresh daily using premium local ingredients, Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake is served warm from the oven with every bite being a touch sweet and perfectly airy. Don’t miss their Crème Brûlée crêpe combining their famous Japanese cheesecake with cream and custard wrapped in a crêpe and sealed with hardened caramelized sugar.
There will be plenty of themed fun around the Hawker Market. Catch live performances by Bollywood dancers and Tommy The Noodle Man’s spectacular show making fresh noodles. Peek into your future with tea leaf readings and Chinese Astrologists. Take a pic with our giant noodle box or showcase your gaming skills.
All this and more will take place in the Breezeway outside Saintly Place and on the Front Lawn. Your race day ticket will give you access to all the festivities.
Plus as one of the best race days of the year, there will be plenty of excitement on the track. Some of the world’s fastest horses are racing in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m), named after the legendary mare whose stellar career consisted of 25 undefeated races.
