Bred in the USA, this Hong Kong gelding was trained by Tony Cruz to win races including the 2004 Group 1 Hong Kong Gold Cup, the 2005 Group 1 Stewards’ Cup, the 2005 and 2006 Group 1 Champions Mile at Sha Tin, and the 2006 Group 1 Yasuda Kinen in Tokyo (after finishing fourth the year before). With the 2005 Champions Mile win he made history by putting an end to the seventeen-race winning streak of stablemate Silent Witness.
Bullish Luck was voted Hong Kong Horse of the Year in 2006 and earned the $1 million bonus given to any horse who won two legs of the four-race Asian Mile Challenge. His jockey in the 2006 Yasuda Kinen, Brett Prebble called him the best horse he’d ever ridden following the race.
In 2007, in the Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, Bullish Luck raced for the first time on dirt, finishing a very respectable third behind Invasor.
He was retired in 2008 with 12 wins from 62 starts, including five Group 1 victories, and prizemoney of more than AUD $10,000,000.
