What’s On for VRC Thanks the Community Raceday

Summer Racing at Flemington kicks off this Saturday 15th December by giving thanks to the local community. Featuring a number of races in honour of community organisations and VRC charity partners, a community BBQ, Christmas giving trees in support of The Smith Family’s Toy & Book Appeal and complimentary entry for local residents. It a fun-filled day out perfect for families and groups celebrating the festive season!

Christmas Giving Trees

Christmas presents under a Christmas tree
Help bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas by donating a gift under the Christmas Giving Trees, in support of The Smith Family’s Toy & Book Appeal. VRC members and guests can donate gifts under the Giving Trees in The Club Stand Lobby and The Forum, while all racegoers can visit the Giving Tree in Saintly Place.

Community BBQ

Kids enjoying a BBQ at Flemington
Enjoy a tasty BBQ on the Front Lawn while supporting three local organisations: Wingate Avenue Community Centre, Flemington Rotary and SecondBite. Take your pick from gourmet sausages, lamb skewers, burgers and loaded fries. With every purchase racegoers will receive a token to allocate to their preferred local organisation. At the end of the day the organisation with the most tokens receives half the proceeds raised, with the two other organisations receiving a quarter each.

Summer on the Lawn

Young ladies enjoying the sunshine on the Flemington Front Lawn.
Experience a Miami-inspired summer oasis on the Front Lawn, with brightly coloured furniture and lawn games including giant Connect 4 and Jenga. Chill-out to acoustic tunes, while sipping frozen margaritas and daiquiris from the bar and witness the excitement of every race as the horses thunder to the Winning Post. This is a free space with food and beverages available for purchase.

The Furphy Deck

The Furphy Deck at Flemington.
Head up to The Furphy Deck for unbeatable views of the track. Following its popularity during the Melbourne Cup Carnival, this space has been opened to all racegoers for summer racedays. Situated above the Front Lawn at the Winning Post, this beautifully styled deck is one of the best spots at Flemington to take in all the action on the track.

Flemington Family Lawn
