Racegoers enjoying the seating and shade in The Park during the Melbourne Cup Carnival

Seppelt Wines Stakes Day is Our Favourite Raceday

After the glamour of AAMI Victoria Derby Day and the excitement of Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, it’s an amazing feeling to let your hair and heels down a little as the pace off the track slows for Seppelt Wines Stakes Day.

Known for being the most relaxed of the four racedays, in recent years it’s become our favourite day for taking in the beauty of Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and enjoying a fun-filled day with friends and family.

From delicious spreads on the Front Lawn to chilling-out in The Park with Conrad Sewell and delighting the kids with magicians and elephants, it’s the perfect way to finish an amazing week of racing, fashion and entertainment.

Here’s five reasons not to miss Seppelt Wines Stakes Day this Melbourne Cup Carnival.

There’s room to move
Carving out a space for a picnic rug on the Front Lawn on any other raceday during the Melbourne Cup Carnival is a challenge, but on Seppelt Wines Stakes Day you can set-up a picnic or antipasto spread that’s worthy of posting to social media. Plus with the crowd more relaxed, you can wander the racecourse to check out all the places and spaces that have popped up just for Cup Week. To find your way around, be sure to grab a copy of our beautifully illustrated map on your way through the entrances. View here.

Australia’s most exciting sprint to cap off Cup Week
While the Lexus Melbourne Cup is the jewel in the crown, the $1 million VRC Sprint Classic on the last day of Cup Week is assembling as Australia’s most electrifying sprint. With international contenders taking on Australia’s best sprinter Redzel, alongside elite level horses in Redkirk Warrior, Shoals and Santa Ana Lane, we won’t know where to look in the dash up the famous Flemington straight.

Chill out in The Park
Filled with delicious food from Melbourne’s trendiest eateries, stylish bars and luxe lounges, the Myer Fashions on the Field enclosure, plus fun-filled activities from our sponsors, The Park is unexpected, carefree and a little bit fabulous. With live music, big screens televising all the racing action and plenty of shade and seating, this is a great spot to settle for your raceday. Enter through the green arches to a playground of endless fun and frivolity – it’s free for all Melbourne Cup Carnival ticket holders.

Be serenaded by Conrad Sewell
ARIA award-winner and platinum-selling singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell holds nothing back as he confesses mistakes and tells his uncut story with his bold, big and bluesy wail. You’ll love singing along to his hits including 'Start Again' and 'Healing Hands'. See Conrad performing on The Park main stage from 3:45pm to 4:45pm.

Keep the kids entertained
If you want to bring the kids along to any raceday, Stakes Day is the one. With a fun, friendly atmosphere and plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, you can sit back and relax while they have the time of their lives. In Hill Square, in front of The Park, a mini circus will roll into Flemington complete with magicians, acrobats and Eesha the Elephant. If you’re a member, The Nursery will host a kids disco party and talent show along with face painting, balloon artists and a jumping castle.
