The Park 2017

Get Ready | Plan your day in The Park

With just 1 sleep to go until Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, we couldn’t be more excited! If you’re lucky enough to be spending a day (Or two. Or three. Or four!) in The Park at Flemington this year, we’ve planned out the entire day for you.

Although arriving fashionably is encouraged, arriving fashionably late is not. Each day has a different starting time, so make sure you know when to arrive. You can get all the times here. To get there on time, we recommend the train! Metro has special services running directly to Flemington Racecourse on race days. Keep tabs on arrival and departure times by checking out the Metro website.

Friends having fun in The Park

The Park is located on the hill just adjacent to the train station and makes the perfect base for your day. You can pop out at any stage to watch some of the world-class horse racing on offer, or hang out there with friends all day long. Here’s our plan for your 8 hours in The Park…

10.30am: Start your day with a coffee from the guys at Lavazza. They’ll be serving their famous Italian brews in the West end of The Park from an amazing double decker bus called The Aviary. While you sip, make sure you give yourself enough time to study the racebook (available throughout the racecourse) to pick out your winners for the day!

11.30am: Head over to the luxurious Myer Fashions on the Field Enclosure to check out the entrants, spot some celebs and watch the beautiful runway shows in this fabulous new space.

12pm: Make your way over to Bar Schweppes and the Flemingo Croquet Lawn to kick off your afternoon with a hit of croquet with a Schweppes Flemington Fling in hand – there’s no better way to play! The Rotunda nearby will play host to a variety of musical acts and DJ’s throughout the day.

1pm: Lunchtime! Select from some of Melbourne’s fave restaurants who are popping up all over The Park. 8Bit, Dexter, Hector’s Deli, Rice Paper Scissors, Zero Gradi and 400 Gradi will all be there, so there’s not a chance you’re going hungry today! While you eat, sit at one of the super cute picnic tables in The Park and watch the races on one of the many super screens in the area.

2pm: Grab your friends and pop in to the Pony Bar, the go-to destination for relaxation and indulgence, serving Mumm champagne and the Schweppes Flemington Fling with a premium view of the main stage.

3pm: Time for a touch-up! Head to the Cosmo Glam Pit, located above the Myer Fashions on the Field Enclosure for nails, lips and a spritz of perfume before you head back out to enjoy the rest of your day.

3.30pm: The Absolut dancefloor should be pumping by now! Pick up a pair of headphones and warm up for the headlining acts of the day with a silent disco boogie.

4pm: Make sure you’re front and centre when the musical action kicks off, with headlining acts on the main stage every afternoon!

5.30pm: Finish the day with a ‘spritz with a twist’ in the A’tivo Bar – the perfect way to end a fun-filled day at Flemington in The Park.

Haven’t got your tickets yet? Not to worry, entry to The Park is free to all racegoers, and all you need to get in to the Flemington Racecourse is a General Admission Ticket.
