Members and their guests are invited to An Evening with James Cummings, proudly presented by Incognitus.
Hosted by Simon O’Donnell, the evening will provide a fascinating insight into one of Australia’s most exciting young trainers in the lead-up to the 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
From one of Australia’s greatest racing families, James Cummings learned from the best in the business, first as foreman and then co-trainer with his grandfather Bart Cummings, with whom he trained his first Group 1 winner, Hallowed Crown, with victory in the 2014 Golden Rose. Since then, James has been quick to assert his authority as a trainer in his own right, winning the 2016 Group 1 Champagne Stakes with Prized Icon before progressing with this horse to take the 2016 Group 1 AAMI Victoria Derby, the time honoured classic that had previously been won by his father Anthony Cummings, grandfather Bart Cummings, and great-grandfather Jim Cummings.
Late in the 2016/17 season, the news broke that James had been awarded the coveted role as Head Trainer for the Australian arm of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin operation, and the racing world is eager to see what heights James can scale with the blue army now in his charge.
