In light of ongoing Victorian Government crowd capacity restrictions for Greater Melbourne and the latest advice from Racing Victoria regarding this weekend’s Victorian race meetings, the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) can confirm that this Saturday’s Country Race Day will proceed without patrons.
The race day will go ahead under the same COVID-safe protocols that were in place throughout 2020, with the racecourse shut to all but racing industry participants and essential staff.
Although we aren’t able to host crowds under the current capacity limits, the eased restrictions announced this week for regional Victoria do give us optimism that we will be able to welcome back patrons for Flemington Finals Race Day on 3 July 2021, and we are enthusiastically planning for their return.
We hope racing fans will tune in from home to take in the Country Race Day nine-race card from headquarters, including two exciting heats of the VRC-CRV Winter Championship with Heat 5 set for The David Bourke in race 5 and Heat 6 for the Brian Beattie Handicap in race 8, and cheer on Jamie Kah as she close in on the record-breaking 100 metropolitan wins in a season milestone.
This Saturday the Club recognises the grassroots country race clubs that contribute to our rich racing culture and act as a launching pad for so many of the stars we see at Flemington. While we are not able to welcome crowds on Country Race Day as we had hoped, for both Flemington Finals Day on Saturday 3 July and Season Finale Race Day on Saturday 17 July we will be extending free entry to reciprocal members from country race clubs, so they can enjoy a fabulous day at Flemington.
For VRC members please look out for our regular Race Day Communiqué, with a number of great articles, Nick Quinn’s tips and racing previews, and plenty of exciting racing to enjoy from home. Our VRC Member Stakes continues as usual, now with even greater chances to win and exclusive, money-can’t-buy prizes –members can find out more and register at flemington.com.au/club-membership/vrc-member-stakes. Our digital racebook will also be sent to members via the Race Day Communiqué and available for download on the Country Race Day page.
The VRC team will contact all members, ticketholders and stakeholders directly to advise them of the relevant information, including rescheduling of race day events and refunds where applicable.
- All race day tickets purchased through VRC will be automatically refunded. This refund will be processed within 3-5 days.
- All tickets purchased through Ticketek will receive a full refund from Ticketek.
We look forward to welcoming back as many patrons as we can for Flemington Finals Day on Saturday 3 July 2021 at Flemington Racecourse, and as the situation evolves we will work with the Government and health authorities to act and provide further updates accordingly.
