The Picnic Lawn on Australian Guineas Day

Welcoming up to 15,000 people back to Headquarters

The Victoria Racing Club is delighted to officially welcome up to 15,000 spectators to Flemington for the two remaining days of the Flemington Racing Spectacular, Australian Guineas Day tomorrow and Super Saturday next weekend.

Today’s crowd confirmation from the Victorian Government allows for greater flexibility of movement on course within two separate zones. Each zone is capped at no more than 7,500 spectators, ensuring the safety of racegoers whilst providing a more familiar race day experience.

Patrons will not be required to wear a mask on course, but are to carry one and are encouraged to wear it when they cannot socially distance.

With the relaxation of restrictions, we are anticipating the largest crowds on a Victorian racecourse in the last 12 months both tomorrow and on Super Saturday.

The confirmed crowd capacity coincides with the first race meeting in front of crowds at Headquarters since the removal of the racing participant bubble, with two owners for each horse returning to the Mounting Yard for the first time since last March.

With spacious grounds to facilitate physical distancing and comprehensive COVID-safe protocols in place, we look forward to the day – hopefully very soon – that we can welcome every racing fan back to Flemington.
