Bivouac might have turned in the sprinting performance of the year after he ran away to score a decisive victory in Victoria's premier spring sprint.
Ridden to a ridiculously easy victory by Glen Boss, Bivouac chased down tearaway leader Nature Strip and then left him standing to record an astonishing win for James Cummings' Godolphin stable in a performance similar to his Newmarket Handicap win in the autumn over the same course.
Nature Strip held on for second place after taking the race last year, with Libertini in third place.
Bivouac had an international rating of 120 before Saturday but given his performance his rating is certain to rise and could challenge Nature Strip’s mark of 124.
Boss was fined $1000 for his celebration passing the post on Sir Dragonet in the Cox Plate and he looks likely to again be fined after a similar celebration.
