Co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr says Oceanex is in 'tremendous order' after she was passed fit to run in Tuesday's Lexus Melbourne Cup.
The talented stayer showed signs of lameness on Thursday, forcing a re-inspection by Racing Victoria vets on Friday.
Kent Jnr and co-trainer Mick Price suspected Oceanex had a minor heel issue, with an adjustment in shoe making a drastic improvement.
"We just put a three-quarter shoe on her, took some of that pain away from her heel. Within half an hour of the farrier being there, she was perfect," he said.
"She worked this morning as normal and she trotted up perfectly, so (we're) very happy.
"We have just taken the pressure out of the right side of the heel. It's the same shoe she wears normally, it's just cut off at the end."
Kent Jnr said the adjustment in shoe would 'no way at all' impact Oceanex performing at her best in the Lexus Melbourne Cup and that he couldn't be happier with the galloper heading into Tuesday.
"She is in tremendous order. She will gallop (Saturday) morning as normal. Bring on the Lexus Melbourne Cup," he said.
