With a beaming smile it was easy to spot Leticia Griffin at Flemington on Wednesday.
Griffin is a former jockey who had her fledging career interrupted by illness, having been diagnosed with stage three melanoma in July 2018 just two years after riding her first winner.
The 25-year-old has not only returned to full health but also to the racetrack.
She became the third female ever to serve as clerk of the course at Flemington, 180 years to the day after the first meeting at Melbourne's premier venue.
"I'm pretty excited and it's an honour to be here," Griffin said.
