The beloved music treasure Marcia Hines will get the party started on Kennedy Oaks Day, performing on Flemington’s famous Front Lawn as part of Nova Lunch On The Lawn which is accessible to racegoers with their general admission ticket.
One of Australia’s most loved disco sweethearts, Marcia will hit the stage from 12.50pm to 1.30pm, just before the first race gets underway at 1.50pm.
A brand new addition to Kennedy Oaks Day, Nova Lunch On The Lawn is free for all general admission ticket holders and will be the perfect place to gather with friends as the Front Lawn transforms into a vibrant garden party.
Racegoers can pre-order food hampers filled with delicious delicacies from The Hamper House, which come with a free picnic blanket to roll out among the blooming rose gardens.
“Ladies Day at the Melbourne Cup Carnival is my favourite horse racing event! I love the fashion, the comradery, and the odd punt! I look forward to attending – and the bonus is to perform,” Marcia said.
The lunchtime celebration is another exciting new feature on Kennedy Oaks Day, which will feature a later start to the race card and a spectacular entertainment lineup.
Gates open at 11am with the first race to be run at 1.50pm and shorter gaps between races designed to amplify the electric atmosphere that accompanies Cup Week celebrations at Flemington.
To top and tail a spectacular day of racing with entertainment, the popular general admission precinct The Park will host a double-header of headline acts on centre stage from the early evening.
Australian indie royalty The Jungle Giants are set to deliver a sensational set before the #1 ARIA chart topping artist Dean Lewis takes to the stage, fresh off the back of his North American tour. The Sydney singer-songwriter is best known for multi-platinum hits, Waves, Be Alright and 7 Minutes.
Traditionally known as Ladies Day, Kennedy Oaks Day features the final of the iconic Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition at the revised time of 3.45pm, and the running of the $1 million Group 1 Kennedy Oaks (2500m) at 5.50pm.
Kennedy Oaks Day is the fourth most attended day on the Australian racing calendar, and forms part of the biggest week in racing alongside the VRC’s AAMI Victoria Derby Day, Lexus Melbourne Cup Day and Seppelt Wines Stakes Day.
