VRC Members Trackwork Breakfast to support National Jockeys Trust

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is pleased to present a new format for the VRC Members Trackwork Breakfast, with all ticket proceeds to be donated to the National Jockeys Trust (NJT).

The VRC Members Trackwork Breakfast on Tuesday 29 October runs from 6am until 9am and affords guests the chance to experience the magic of trackwork at Flemington before hearing from some of the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s biggest players including three-time Cup winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

Stars of Australian racing will hit the track throughout the morning as part of their final preparations for the Melbourne Cup Carnival feature races including the $8 million Lexus Melbourne Cup and seven other Group 1 races during Cup Week.

Normally restricted to just 50 guests, VRC Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson revealed the bigger and better VRC Members Trackwork Breakfast.

“The VRC wanted to open the doors for more members and their guests to enjoy a magical morning of trackwork at Flemington,” Mr Wilson said.

“There is something spectacular about watching our equine athletes complete a gallop against the backdrop of the city. It is something people have to get out and experience at least once a year and there is no better time to do it than on the eve of Cup Week at Flemington.

“This is a not-for-profit event, with all ticket proceeds going to the National Jockeys Trust for the first time.

“The VRC supports the incredible work done by the National Jockeys Trust all year round. The Trust provides an invaluable network of emotional and financial support for injured jockeys and their families.”

Ticket prices have been reduced for 2019, with entry just $10 for VRC members and $20 for guests.

Held in the Lawn Stand at Flemington Racecourse, VRC members and their guests can purchase freshly made breakfast goods including egg and bacon rolls, toasted sandwiches and yoghurt and granola pots from The Forum throughout the morning.

Media are invited to capture vision of the gallops as well as interviews with leading jockeys and trainers.
