Gallopers from Western Australia have made their presence felt already this spring and there are more on their way hoping to achieve similar success.
Variation, Vital Silver and Niccovi all arrived safely in Melbourne this week and will be hoping to add to the achievements of recent Group 1 bolters Gatting and Black Heart Bart and Pushin' Shapes.
G2 WA Guineas winner Variation will head to the G2 Moonga Stakes (1400m) for his first run in Melbourne.
His first-up run was an eye-catcher at Belmont, before having excuses last start. He trialed on Tuesday and impressed trainer Stephen Miller.
"That's the performance I was expecting to see," Miller said.
"I've got him up and going and I think he can run well over in Melbourne."
Vital Silver will join Angelic Ruler and Pushin' Shapes for Dan and Ben Pearce. He's a Group 3 winner in WA and boasts an impressive record of eight victories from only 15 starts.
"He's a runner that the Melbourne programs looks ideal for," Dan Pearce said.
"Hopefully he and Angelic Ruler can taste success like Pushin' Shapes did last weekend."
He takes his place this weekend in the G2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) on Saturday, while Angelic Ruler will run in the G2 Blazer Stakes (1400m), also on Saturday at Flemington.
Talented three-year-old filly Niccovi will join her stablemate Special Rewards and be aimed at the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
"She travelled across really well and we're excited to see what she can do in Melbourne," Miller said.
"We'll go to the Sapphire first and then target the fillies races."
Miller confirmed that Special Reward pulled up well and will be set for the Listed Caulfield Village Stakes (1200m) also on Blue Sapphire Stakes Day.
