The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) and Myer have officially announced 2017 Myer Fashions on the Field National winner Crystal Kimber as this year’s Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador.
The seasoned racegoer is no stranger to Myer Fashions on the Field or the Melbourne Cup Carnival, having entered the competition since she was just 16 years old.
A VRC member, Crystal took home the National title in 2017 in a design recreated from her late grandmother’s vintage skirt.
The win was a dream come true for the Fashions on the Field devotee, who is well-known for creating and styling her own original frocks.
“I have always been passionate about fashion, styling and design and Myer Fashions on the Field has always been my favourite way to showcase this passion,” Crystal said.
“The fact that I get to represent the event as the official ambassador is a dream come true and I’m so honoured.”
As this year’s Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador, Crystal will style herself in Myer clothing, millinery and accessories, showcasing to prospective competitors and racegoers how to dress for this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
“I’m so excited to be choosing my own looks from Myer’s collection. It’s a really unique experience, and bringing this role into a new space is a true privilege.
“Growing up, the Melbourne Cup Carnival was the biggest event on the social calendar. I’m so thrilled to be able to have this role with an event that’s always meant so much to me.”
VRC Executive General Manager Customer Engagement Caroline Ralphsmith said Crystal is the ideal choice for the Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador role this year.
“We are thrilled to announce Crystal as this year’s ambassador to be the face of the esteemed competition at Flemington,” Ms Ralphsmith said.
“Given her personal experience as a participant after all these years, Crystal brings valuable knowledge and will serve as a great inspiration to this year’s entrants and all racegoers.”
Crystal’s first official appearance will be at Flemington on Thursday 12 September for the annual Myer Spring Fashion Lunch.
