OTI Racing landed a big-race success in New York on Saturday morning with the Alessandro Botti-trained Amade claiming the Group 2 Belmont Gold Cup.
Amade settled second-last in the 3200-metre turf contest before making a sustained run out three and four wide, quickly looming into contention as the field rounded the home bend at Belmont.
Despite drifting out under pressure over the final 150m, the five-year-old son of Casamento was able to stave off a challenge from race favourite Arklow, who was making ground on the rail.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup is now well and truly on the agenda for Amade, with OTI boss Terry Henderson suggesting he would likely head to the G2 Prix Kergolay at Deauville in August on his way to Melbourne.
The gelding has won eight of his 12 starts.
