The biggest threat to Alizee in next Saturday's $5 million All-Star Mile might be herself.
Godolphin's three-time Group 1 winner was given an exhibition gallop between the first two races at Flemington on Saturday.
Whilst there was some interest in the gallop, the focus of the exercise was how Alizee would cope with the simulation of pre-race activity.
Godolphin's Australian head trainer James Cummings expressed his concern with how Alizee played up prior to her courageous win in the G1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 23.
Therefore there were many curious onlookers leaning over fences, monitoring every movement of the four-year-old mare.
She did a couple of laps of the yard before Hugh Bowman was legged aboard, Alizee carrying a set of ear muffs with all four legs strapped.
The daughter of Sepoy wasn't perfectly behaved as Bowman tried to steer her onto the course proper and the mare was a little edgy and wanted to just get on with it.
"She was a little bit wound up when I got on her, not as much as what she did at Caulfield (before the Futurity Stakes)," Bowman said.
"I'd like to see a little bit more improvement in that department before next Saturday.
"But once I got on the track, trotted her around she did everything that was asked of her to do and I'm very pleased.
"She felt amazing, has got an amazing stride, very clean-winded and as busy as she is in the prelim, when she gets on the track she really relaxes."
Whilst Alizee is stabled at Flemington when racing in Melbourne, she has never raced at the venue. Bowman doesn't have any concerns with how she'll handle the track but rather will monitor the barrier draw.
"A good draw will assist us next week (in The All-Star Mile) but what will be will be," Bowman said.
"She's a genuine Group 1 horse. She doesn't need to take the next step, she just needs to sustain where she's at."
Alizee is favourite to win The All-Star Mile, with last week's G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) winner Mystic Journey next best.
Godolphin's other representative in The All-Star Mile, Hartnell, is fifth.
