Redkirk Warrior returns to Flemington

Redkirk Warrior will return to the scene of his greatest triumphs on Saturday when the Royal Ascot-bound sprinter has an exhibition gallop at Flemington.

Redkirk Warrior is due to fly out to the United Kingdom on June 5 for the five-day Royal Ascot Carnival from June 19, but his co-trainer David Hayes said on Wednesday that the rising eight-year-old will have a sprint-up between races at Headquarters on Saturday before one last organised trial prior to his departure.

"We've planned for the exhibition gallop at Flemington this Saturday and then he'll trial at Werribee on Monday week on May 28 and that should have him spot-on," Hayes said.

Redkirk Warrior, who began his racing life in England before going to Hong Kong and finally Australia, has started five times down the straight course at Flemington for four wins and those victories include back-to-back Lexus Newmarket Handicaps as well as a Black Caviar Lightning victory.

The sprinter, who is currently the second favourite for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot at $6 behind local sprinter Harry Angel ($5), has been ticking along well in his preparation for a return to England.

"We're really happy with him," Hayes said. "He's going really well."

Redkirk Warrior will be ridden by Frankie Dettori in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on June 23.
