Victoria Racing Club (VRC) Chairman Amanda Elliott announced today that Mr Neil Wilson will become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Club.
“The Board of the VRC and I are delighted to announce Neil as the Club’s new CEO, and we congratulate him on this important appointment,” said Mrs Elliott.
“In his seven months as VRC Interim Chief Executive, Neil has made a very positive impact across the whole business. Amongst other significant outcomes, he led the delivery of last year’s highly successful Melbourne Cup Carnival.
“Neil’s appointment will provide stability and continuity as Australia’s premier race club cements its long-term strategy, and evolves to position Flemington for the next generation and beyond. It’s an exciting time for the VRC, headlined by the opening of the new Club Stand later this year.
“Neil’s private and public company experience as a CEO for over 20 years, his broad and detailed understanding of the global digital landscape, as well as his five years on our Board as a Director, are extremely valuable for the VRC.”
Mr Wilson said he was honoured to be appointed as the new VRC CEO.
“I am delighted to have the privilege of heading up the VRC. I look forward to building on the momentum of the past seven months to ensure we deliver on one of the most significant years in the VRC’s history, and position the Club for growth locally and globally.
“I would like to thank Amanda, the Board and the outstanding VRC team for their support and guidance during the interim CEO period.
Mr Wilson was appointed to the VRC Board in 2012 and became Honorary Treasurer in 2017. He will remain a member of the Club’s Board in his capacity as CEO.
Mr Wilson’s new appointment will be effective immediately.
