FAQs

Frequently asked questions relating to the plans for the Members Enclosure for 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Will I have many choices for Members spaces in 2017?

Yes, you will have many different and enjoyable options this year.
We have been hard at work creating and curating new and unique spaces, with the needs and wishes of Members front of mind. We have made sure that there will be the same amount of space for sit down dining, bar and casual eating available across both existing and new Member areas.

Will access to facilities be impaired or limited while you build?

Other than the construction zone for the new Club Stand (ref. map on website or in brochure they will receive in the mail), all other areas and spaces throughout Flemington Racecourse will be accessible to Members and their guests as per previous years.

Can I expect the same atmosphere and facilities as previous years?

Definitely. There will be many new or refurbished spaces on offer to Members, and we have ensured there is plenty of choice when it comes to dining, casual food options, bars and entertainment, and access to trackside views. Please refer to our guide for your options across the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Will capacity and the number of venues on offer be limited this year?

You will have many different and enjoyable options this year. We have made sure that there will be the same amount of space for sit down dining, bar and casual eating available across both existing and new Member areas, so that all Members can attend and have a fabulous Melbourne Cup Carnival. We hope you enjoy the exciting new offerings available.

Are there any discounts or offers for Members this year, in light of the changes happening?

Members pricing will be available for the new dining options in The Makybe Diva Marquee, the Panorama, Skyline and Gallery Restaurants*. *Availability in Skyline, Panorama and Makybe Diva Marquee on AAMI Victoria Derby and Emirates Melbourne Cup Days. Availability in Gallery on AAMI Victoria Derby Day only.

Does the discount on the new dining options above apply to the total booking if it is in a Member’s name or just the number of seats occupied by Members?

The discount applies to the total booking including Members guests given a Member will be making the booking. Given that these dining facilities are in non-Member areas, Members will only need to purchase guest passes for their guests if they plan on entering the Members’ Enclosure. 

Does the discount on the new dining options apply to Full & Restricted Members?

Yes. While the dining ballot is only open to Full Members, Restricted Members can apply for dining, car and super sites from Monday 31st July 2017. Restricted Members applications will be processed and allocated in order of receipt, pending product availability post ballot. 

Will there be a Members Only Bar like the Island and Long Bar?

Yes. There is definitely going to be a Members Only Bar.  This will be located on Level 1 of the Hill Stand.

Can I redeem points for any of the products on offer?

Yes. As in previous years your Racing Rewards points can be redeemed for Members Enclosure Daily Guest Passes, Nursery Car Sites, Reserved Seating and Pedestrian Passes for The Rails, The Domain and The Nursery. More information will be available in the Members and Racing Rewards Handbook coming to you in June.

Is the Club Stand build on schedule to be ready for the 2018 Melbourne Cup Carnival?

The build is on schedule and we look forward to welcoming you next year to our all-new world-class facility.

How will new places in the different venues be balloted to Members this year?

To ensure that areas are allocated in the fairest possible manner and Members have an equal opportunity to secure their Carnival preferences, all Members’ dining and reserved car sites will be allocated via a ballot, while Members aged 60 years and over will be given a priority booking period for reserved seating as per previous years.

Where are the reserved seats for Members located and what is the booking process this year?

There is the same amount of reserved seating as in previous years. Reserved seating will be available to Members in The Grandstand (The Atrium, Level 2 and The View, Level 4) and new for this year, in the Lawn Stand. As in previous years, Members aged 60 years and over will be given a priority booking period. From Monday 2nd October all remaining seating will be available for all Members to purchase through Ticketek.

When will Restricted Members be able to book for this year’s Carnival?

As per previous years, Restricted Members are not eligible for the ballot, but can apply for car, super sites and dining from Monday 31st July 2017. Restricted Members applications will be processed and allocated in order of receipt, pending product availability post ballot.

What is the booking process for Members dining this year?

As per previous years, to ensure all Members have an equal opportunity to secure their preferences, all Members dining will be allocated via a ballot.

I have been frequenting The Peak since December last year as a result of the Club Stand build. Where can I go now?

During Melbourne Cup Carnival, The Peak will offer tiered and flat dining with stunning views of the Winning Post and city skyline. Members who have been spending their day in The Peak so far this year are encouraged to visit Level 1 of the Hill Stand, the new Mounting Yard Bar and Members Lawn, however there are many other options available. Please refer to our guide for your options across the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Over Carnival I usually spend my day in the Members Betting Ring. Where can I go this year to have the same experience?

The Members Betting Ring will be similar to what you experienced during the autumn racedays earlier this year, complete with ample betting facilities.

Where can I go to get a view of the Mounting Yard?

The recommended vantage points of the Mounting Yard are the new Mounting Yard Bar and Members Lawn.
