SUBMISSION PROCESS:

Eligibility

All contestants must fulfil the following contestant criteria, acknowledge that they understand and agree to abide by the criteria:

  • Contestants must be 18 years of age or more
  • All models must have appropriate racewear to complement their millinery
  • Contestants are not permitted to alter or add to their millinery or outfit in any way from the beginning until the end of the competition

Portfolio

A portfolio should be one PDF document and must include:

  • Overview; outlining your brand, your background and history, current stockists and any personal and/or millinery highlights (no more than one paragraph)
  • Lookbook; a sweep of images showcasing your work
  • Media; PR and media received (if applicable)
  • Digital; links mapping to your website and/or social media platforms (if applicable)

Entrant criteria

  1. Entrants and their models must be 18 years of age or older on the day of the competition.
  2. Entrants must ensure that their model has appropriate racewear to complement their millinery.
  3. Entrants must not receive any compensation from a third party for entering this competition.
  4. The Entrant must not derive income from a garment design (and/or construction) or millinery service that is offered or provided to the public, or otherwise such services must be provided in the Entrant’s individual capacity as a “boutique” business (such term as reasonably and commonly understood within the retail industry and subject to the discretion of Victoria Racing Club).
  5. If an Entrant enters both the Millinery Award and 2019 Myer Fashions on the Field Emerging Designer Award, any item of clothing, headwear or accessory that appears in the Millinery Award is not permitted in the Emerging Designer Award, and vice versa.
  6. If an Entrant is participating in the Millinery Award, the Entrant is not eligible to enter the Myer Fashions on the Field Women’s, Men’s or Family Racewear 2019 competitions during the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2019. Further no item of clothing, headwear or accessory worn in the Millinery Award may be worn in the Women’s Racewear or Men’s Racewear competitions (by any other person including the Entrant’s model) and vice versa.
  7. The Entrant’s model participating in the Millinery Award is not allowed to enter any other 2019 Myer Fashions on the Field event that is associated with the VRC, in any part of the outfit (clothing, headwear or accessory) submitted by the Entrant as part of the Millinery Award.
  8. Entrants may only enter the competition in their own private capacity and not on behalf of a third party including any commercial enterprise. Companies, partnerships and other business organisations (excluding any “boutique” as determined reasonable by the Promoter) are not eligible to win prizes in the Millinery Award.
  9. The Entrant, their model and their Outfits are not permitted to commercially promote a brand (other than of the Entrant as a milliner) or any other commercial enterprise or otherwise have any commercial association with any other third party, company, partnership or business organisation.
  10. Entrants are not permitted to alter or add to their outfit in any way from the beginning until the end of the competition.
  11. All prizes awarded to the entrant must remain the property of the entrant and may not be transferred to a third party unless authorised by VRC.
  12. Entrants agree and will ensure that their models agree that the Victoria Racing Club can use any image, photograph or video clip taken of them during the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival for any of the VRC's purposes.
  13. Entrants confirm that their model is aware of and agrees to the competition terms and conditions and by ticking the boxes below, it confirms that the contestant has communicated to her the above. If the entrant has not yet secured a model, they confirm that they will communicate the terms and conditions to their model to ensure that their model agrees to such terms.
