Due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to announce further changes to your membership renewal for the 2020/21 racing season. These include; 

  • The renewal due date for the 2020/21 racing season has been extended to Thursday 1st October.
  • A reduction of 50% off your 2020/21 membership subscriptions*, annual guest cards and annual car passes. 
  • Automatic renewal of all existing Phar Lap Club and junior memberships for the 2020/21 racing season, with no fees payable. 

These changes are in addition to the previously announced initiatives which will still be honoured. These include;

  • If you renew your membership by the due date, now 1st October 2020, you will receive a $160 bonus on your membership card for use on course at Flemington in dining and hospitality venues throughout the 2020/21 season. 
  • If you also purchase an annual guest card by 1st October, 2020, for the 2020/21 season you’ll receive a further benefit of $110 added to your membership card.
  • An instalment payment plan to enable you to pay your membership subscription in three equal payments throughout the season. 
  • All existing Racing Rewards points and current food and beverage vouchers that were due to expire in the period between 1st March – 31st December 2020 will have their expiry dates extended by 12 months from the original date. 
  • All Racing Rewards tier status will be held and rolled over for the 2020/21 season and members who were eligible to elevate their tier status will have this automatically granted.
  • All remaining complimentary Racing Rewards guest passes will be honoured via individual race day ticketing, issued upon request.
  • An extended financial hardship provision providing all members access to a range of options that enable ongoing connection to the club if they are unable to renew for the 2020/21 season due to COVID-19 circumstances. A quick call to Customer Service will enable us to work through the best option for your own personal circumstances.

Like to make a pledge to the Club?

Members who are able to further support the Club by pledging their full annual subscription, can do so by logging onto their membership account or by calling our Customer Service team on 1300 727 575. A pledge to the Club is of great assistance and we sincerely thank any member who is able to do so.

Already renewed for the 2020/21 racing season?

Firstly, thank you for your support. Your renewal is an investment in the future of our club.  As you have already renewed your membership for the 2020/21 racing season, you can choose one of the following options;

  1. Make a pledge to the Club of the difference between the amount you have already paid and the revised fee
  2. Request a reimbursement of the difference between the amount you have already paid and the revised fee
  3. Request a credit of the difference in between the amount you have already paid and the revised fee loaded onto your membership card for use at Flemington in dining and hospitality venues.

If you renewed your membership via our payment plan, and have paid your first instalment, we will adjust the second payment accordingly to reflect the reduced renewal fee. A third instalment will no longer be required.

If you’ve opted to renew your membership by automatic renewal, and would like to update your details, including your chosen payment method, simply log in to your membership account or call Customer Service on 1300 727 575 before 5pm on Friday 25th September, 2020.

Your automatic payment will be processed on Tuesday 29th September, 2020.

What are the fees for 2020/21 racing season?

The renewal fees for membership subscriptions*, annual guest passes and annual car passes for the 2020/21 racing season have been reduced by 50%. All existing Phar Lap Club and junior memberships for the 2020/21 racing season will be automatically renewed, with no fees payable.

Why doesn’t the 50% reduction apply to Annual Absentee fees?

The 50% reduction on membership subscriptions and optional purchases (annual guest cards, car park passes, including annual reserved car passes) was introduced as a result of the impact of COVID-19 on member attendance on race days and to make it easier for members to renew and maintain their active memberships. This reduction does not apply to members who are currently on or choose to go on the Absentee list (Annual Absentee Fee). What if I have already renewed my membership this season?

If you have already renewed your membership for the 2020/21 racing season, you can choose one of the following options;

You have asked members to make a pledge to the Club, why would I do that?

As a Club we continue to face significant financial headwinds as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. If government health restrictions restrict our ability to host our members and the general public over Cup Week, this will further impact our financial circumstances. To those members who are able to further support the Club by pledging their full annual subscription, we express our sincere gratitude for your assistance. We understand if your current circumstances makes this difficult or impossible, renewing your membership is also a demonstration of your support for which we will be extremely grateful.

Can I claim the pledge as a tax deduction?

Whilst the VRC is a not-for-profit organisation, we are not eligible to receive deductible gifts, meaning that pledges made would not be tax deductible.

Who is eligible for the $160 bonus?

All existing Full, Pre79, Life, Provisional and Restricted members who renew their membership by the due date for the 2020/21 racing season are eligible for the $160 bonus.

What date do I need to renew by to be eligible for the $160 bonus?

To receive the $160 bonus you must renew your 2020/21 Full, Pre79, Life, Provisional or Restricted membership by Thursday 1st October.

When will I get my $160 bonus?

The $160 bonus will be loaded onto your membership card within 7 days of renewing your Full, Pre79, Life, Provisional or Restricted membership for the 2020/21 racing season. 

How do I use my $160 bonus?

Once you have renewed for the 2020/21 season, your $160 bonus will be loaded on to your membership card within 7 days. To use the bonus simply scan your card when purchasing food or beverages at any permanent retail venue within Flemington Racecourse, once we are able to host members again.

How long will the $160 be valid for?

The $160 bonus will be valid for the 2020/21 racing season.

Where can I use my $160 bonus?

Your $160 bonus can be used at any permanent retail venue within Flemington Racecourse, once we are able to host members again. 

Can the $160 bonus be used to book dining?

The $160 bonus cannot be used to book dining. It can be used to pay for ‘walk up’ dining, if available, when you are on course at Flemington.

Who is eligible for the Annual Guest Card additional benefit of $110?

All Full, Pre79, Life, Provisional or Restricted members who renew for the 2020/21 season, including paying the applicable fee, and also purchase an annual guest card by 1st October, 2020, will receive an additional $110 benefit, applied to their membership card.

The $110 additional benefit can be used when purchasing food and beverages at any of the permanent retail venues within Flemington racecourse, once we are able to host members again.

The $110 will be loaded to your membership card within 7 days of renewing and paying your Full, Pre79, Life, Provisional or Restricted membership and purchasing an annual guest card by the due date for the 2020/21 racing season.

The conditions of use, including expiry date, for the $110 benefit are the same as apply to the $160 bonus.

What is the instalment payment plan?

This year we will introduce an instalment payment plan for your membership subscription renewal. This will enable you to pay your subscription in three equal payments throughout the season. We’ve also enabled the process to be managed via automatic payment so once you set up the terms and make your first payment, the rest will happen automatically in December 2020 and February 2021. 

How does the instalment payment plan work?

Your annual membership subscription fee is divided into three equal amounts to create the three instalments required for your membership subscription renewal.

  • The first instalment is due by Thursday 1st October 2020
  • The second payment will be automatically processed on 1st December 2020
  • The third payment will be automatically processed on 1st February 2021

Can I pay my optional annual passes by instalment payment plan?

Instalment payment plan is not available on optional annual passes such as annual guest cards and annual car passes. Payment of these passes can be made by one of the following methods:

  • Log in to your membership online account at vrc.net.au and follow the prompts
  • Contact VRC Customer Service on 1300 727 575
If I renew my 2020/21 membership using the instalment payment plan am I eligible for the $160 bonus?

Yes, eligible members who use the instalment payment plan to renew their 2020/21 membership by the due date, will receive the $160 bonus, once we are able to host members again. Once your first payment has been processed, the $160 bonus will be loaded onto your membership card within 7 days, and you will be able to use this bonus at any permanent retail venue within Flemington Racecourse.
