On Monday 4 November, 2019, 'the race that stops a nation'™ will bring Melbourne to a standstill as the Lexus Melbourne Cup Parade makes its way down Swanston Street to Federation Square from 12pm midday.

Tens of thousands will line Swanston Street once again to witness a procession of thoroughbreds, jockeys and trainers joining in the flurry of colour and excitement that is the 36th annual Lexus Melbourne Cup Parade, proudly supported by the City of Melbourne. 

“The City of Melbourne is a proud sponsor of the colourful 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup Parade. This celebrated procession of thoroughbreds pays homage to winners of the past, the jockeys and their trainers. Bring the family and enjoy the atmosphere with live music, free entertainment and the history of the legend that is the Lexus Melbourne Cup – the race that stops a nation. This much-loved public event will take place on Monday, 4 November from 12pm to 2pm, starting at Swanston Street from the corner of Bourke Street and finishing at Federation Square.

Enjoy the free and family-friendly entertainment at Federation Square and a final opportunity to see and hear live interviews with the Lexus Melbourne Cup final field and some of the sport’s most illustrious jockeys and trainers on the eve of 'the race that stops a nation!'™

Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm

Location: Swanston St , Melbourne, VIC, 3000. The parade will start at Bourke St and end at Federation Square. 

Booking information: This is a free public event - no bookings required.

Please note: Due to the Lexus Melbourne Cup parade event there will be road closures, parking restrictions and alterations to tram services in the surrounding area.
