The ultimate preview of the Melbourne Cup Carnival stars.
Setting the scene for an unmissable Melbourne Cup Carnival, TAB Turnbull Stakes Day features some of the finest thoroughbred racing in Australia, with an all-black type race schedule boasting more than $2.6 million in prizemoney.
Long considered a solid guide for predicting future Melbourne Cup Carnival champions, the Group 1 TAB Turnbull Stakes boasts $500,000 in prizemoney and is the first feature 2000m race of the spring. It is joined by Group 3 Bart Cummings, which offers newly increased prizemoney of $500,000 as well as valuable ballot exemption for this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup.
Supporting races include the $300,000 Blazer Stakes for mares over 1400m, $300,000 TAB Edward Manifold Stakes for three-year-old fillies over 1600m and $300,000 Gilgai Stakes over 1200m for open sprinters, all at Group 2 level and which, together with four important Listed races, all feed in to the key races of Cup Week.
