Celebrating the strong connection racing creates between the country and the city.
Join us on Provincial and Country Race Day to celebrate the history and achievements of country and provincial race clubs across Victoria. Residents of Victorian provincial and country areas will receive complimentary racecourse admission upon presentation of ID with proof of regional residency.
The exciting nine-race program includes a number of winter race series heats. The feature race is the David Bourke Provincial Plate for horses that have participated in non-metropolitan races during the previous 12 months. This race was re-named in 1999 by the VRC Committee, to honour the valuable contribution made to Victorian racing by Mr David J. Bourke, CBE, (1930-2005) as Chairman of the Victoria Racing Club. A new addition to this race day is the Listed A.R. Creswick Stakes for three-year-old sprinters, previously featured on Flemington Finals Day but moved to this day to add a dash of speed to the program.
Don’t miss the wonderful winter experiences across the course, from The Lounge with billiards in Saintly Place to live jazz and extravagant shiraz in The Roof Garden, or relaxing with mulled wine on chesterfield lounges in the Winter Club Lounge, for our VRC members and their guests.
Groove to live jazz while sipping Shiraz when the indoor Roof Garden of The Club Stand transforms into an intimate jazz bar. Featuring a live jazz band performing between races and an extensive Shiraz wine list to enjoy from across Australia.
Take in the lively atmosphere of The Atrium from the comfort of our cosy lounge bar. Sink into leather chesterfield lounges and surround yourself in snuggly textures with a drink in hand, all while taking in the racing action live on TV.
The high-backed club chairs, crackling fireplaces and equestrian memorabilia in The Club Stand lobby will make the perfect space to stay cosy during winter racing. Relaxing live music will entertain you between races while our waiters serve from a menu of light bites and winter drinks.
Champions of the turf, Redkirk Warrior and Who Shot Thebarman, will be joining us at Flemington to meet their fans. Meet these legends as they parade around the Mounting Yard throughout the day. Parade times: Following Race 2 (12:25pm approx.) and Race 4 (1:35pm approx.) Stalls: Redkirk Warrior (80) & Who Shot Thebarman (81).
Witness every finish while relaxing with mates in The Lounge inside Saintly Place West this winter. With quick access to the Winning Post, comfy lounges, billiards and foosball, craft beers, dude-food favourites and live tunes, The Lounge is the best spot to enjoy all the racing action and is a free space for all racegoers.
To celebrate our connection with country racing, the VRC is pleased to invite all Members of Victorian provincial and country racing clubs to Flemington. We are pleased to offer complimentary racecourse admission and entry in the VRC Members’ Enclosure for yourself and a guest.
Included in the day will be guided tours of the member’s facilities in the Grandstand and newly opened Club Stand as well as an opportunity to have your photo taken with a Melbourne Cup Trophy from the VRC’s Art & Heritage Collection.
