Come along to Australian Guineas Day presented by 3AW, featuring the Group 1 $755,000 Australian Guineas, during the Flemington Festival of Racing. 

In celebration of our local community, this family-friendly day of activities and fantastic autumn racing is FREE for residents living in the following postcodes in our surrounding suburbs:

  • 3032 - Ascot Vale, Maribyrnong
  • 3031 - Flemington, Kensington
  • 3011 - Footscray, Seddon

Simply present ID showing your address with one of the postcodes above to enter the racecourse on the day.

Children aged 15 years and under are admitted free throughout the year at Flemington.

Roving volunteers will be selling Starlight Wands ($5) and collecting donations for the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Meet Living Legend and winner of the 2000 Melbourne Cup Brew in the pre-parade ring between 12pm and 5pm.

Bob the Builder

Kids' Zone

From 12pm-5pm the east end of the Front Lawn will feature free kids' activities including mini golf, petting zoo, sports games, jumping castle, face painting, roaming balloon artist and pony rides. Watch live entertainment on the Flemington stage by Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina and Magic Tony.

There will be an assortment of food options, massages for mums and dads, and picnic areas with pre-laid blankets, umbrellas and furniture.

Phar Lap Club Children's Party

Phar Lap Club Members are invited to attend the Phar Lap Club Children's Party under the Parade Lounge. Activities include live entertainment, pony rides, arts and crafts, face painting and much more. Spaces are limited therefore RSVPs are essential

  • On raceday, tickets can be purchased at the gate.

VRC Members

  • Guest passes are on sale from Monday 11 January 2016.
  • Guest passes can be purchased, or redeemed via Racing Rewards points.  
  • On raceday, VRC Members may purchase guest passes from the Raceday & Ticketing Office (not including racecourse admission).

Dining

  • Dining is on sale from Monday 11 January 2016. 

*Concession is available to Australian Pensioner Concession Card holders, Full-time Student Card holders, Healthcare Card holders, Disability Concession and DVA Gold Card holders.
** Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the racecourse.

  • Trains
    Special trains run direct to Flemington Racecourse on racedays. 

    Departing Southern Cross Station

    • Trains will depart from Southern Cross Station (platform 8) between 10.59am - 1.19pm, stopping only at North Melbourne Station (platform 2). 
    • Trains will run approximately every 20 minutes. 

    Departing Flemington Racecourse 

    • Trains will depart Flemington Racecourse (platform 1) between 4.48pm - 7.05pm, stopping only at North Melbourne Station (platform 1) and Southern Cross Station (platform 8).  
    • Trains will run approximately every 20 minutes. 

    All train services are wheelchair accessible and passengers who need help boarding trains should wait on the platform near the front of the train.

    Non-racedays: Catch a train to Newmarket station (Craigieburn line) and then either walk (10mins) or take the No. 57 tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Trams
    From the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street catch the No. 57 West Maribyrnong tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Please note, low-floor trams do not run on Route 57 and it is therefore recommended passengers using a mobility aid should catch the train to the racecourse.

    Buses
    Catch Route 472 bus from Williamstown, Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Fisher Parade. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Riverbank entrance.

    Catch Route 404 bus from Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Smithfield Road. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Stables Drive entrance.

    Gentlemen 
    (including children over 12) 

    Gentlemen are required to wear a  suit of tailored slacks (tailored chinos  acceptable), sports coat or blazer, plus  tie and dress shoes. Between 1 December and 31 March  jackets may be removed. Overseas  visitors are welcome to wear the formal  national dress of their country.

    Ladies
    (including children over 12)

    Ladies are expected to maintain a suitable standard in keeping with the dignity of the Members’ Enclosure. Overseas visitors are welcome to wear the formal national dress of their country.

    Children

    Younger children must be neatly dressed and accompanied by an adult in the Members' Enclosure.

    Members' Guest 

    As a VRC Member, you have a responsibility to ensure that your guests introduced into the Members’ Enclosure are dressed appropriately, in line with the required dress standard.
