Some of the world’s fastest horses come to Flemington for the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning.

Join us for a raceday fit for a queen on the first day of the Flemington Festival of Racing, Black Caviar Lightning Day.

Named after the legendary mare whose stellar career consisted of 25 undefeated races, Black Caviar Lightning Day sees some of the world’s fastest horses come to Flemington for the $752,500 Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) – the first of two Australian legs in the world’s richest sprint series, the 2016 Global Sprint Challenge.

To celebrate her amazing racing career, the Black Caviar Walk of Fame along the famous Flemington front lawn, will profile each of her victories beginning at the Makybe Diva statue and ending at the Winning Post.

Children's activities

Free children's activities will take place in the Kids’ Zone, located at the West End of the Public Lawn. Activities cater for children of all ages with various outdoor games, pony rides and arts and craft activities.
