The stars of spring are back on track for Turnbull Stakes Day  presented by Yellowglen, featuring an all black type race schedule boasting more than $1.75 million in prize money.

Boasting the Group 1 Yellowglen Turnbull Stakes - a tremendous guide to the winners of major spring races, even providing multiple winners of the Emirates Melbourne Cup - it’s a day to gather your friends and enjoy the first feature 2000 metre race of the spring!

Supporting races include the $221,500 Blazer Stakes, $222,000 TAB Edward Manifold Stakes and $221,500 Gilgai Stakes, all at Group 2 level. The all black type race schedule confirms Turnbull Stakes Day as one of the finest on the Australian racing calendar.

Yellowglen Terrace

Roy Higgins

Roy Higgins statue unveiling 

Roy Higgins now stands immortalised in bronze, with a 2.1-metre bronze statue of the legendary jockey to be unveiled at Flemington, the scene of his two Melbourne Cup wins.  The statue will be unveiled during a ceremony at 11.45am at the Hill Gate entrance to Flemington.

Bart Cummings Walk of Fame

Celebrate the career of Bart Cummings, including his twelve Melbourne Cup wins, at the Bart Cummings Walk of Fame at the West End of the Front Lawn.

Pin & Win

Show your support for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, our Melbourne Cup Carnival charity partner, by purchasing your Emirates Melbourne Cup pin on course today. Pins are $5 or $10 for the limited edition diamante horseshoe pin and are available from roving volunteers or at Flemington Shop. All proceeds will help Starlight brighten the lives of seriously ill children.

Living Legend Efficient

Visit Living Legend Efficient, winner of both the Turnbull Stakes and Emirates Melbourne Cup, in the pre-parade ring today. This is a great opportunity for adults and children alike to see a champion of the track up close!

Children's activities

Free children's activities will take place in the Kids' Zone, located at the West End of the Public Lawn. Activities cater for children of all ages with various outdoor games, pony rides and arts and craft activities.

    Special trains run direct to Flemington Racecourse on racedays. 

    Flemington Racecourse-bound trains depart Flinders Street Station and/or Southern Cross Station, stopping at North Melbourne Station, then express to Flemington Racecourse. 

    All train services are wheelchair accessible and passengers who need help boarding trains should wait on the platform near the front of the train.

    Non-racedays: Catch a train to Newmarket station (Craigieburn line) and then either walk (10mins) or take the No. 57 tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Trams
    From the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street catch the No. 57 West Maribyrnong tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Please note, low-floor trams do not run on Route 57 and it is therefore recommended passengers using a mobility aid should catch the train to the racecourse.

    Buses
    Catch Route 472 bus from Williamstown, Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Fisher Parade. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Riverbank entrance.

    Catch Route 404 bus from Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Smithfield Road. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Stables Drive entrance.

    Gentlemen are required to wear a  suit of tailored slacks (tailored chinos  acceptable), sports coat or blazer, plus  tie and dress shoes. During the period  between 1 December and 31 March  jackets may be removed. Overseas  visitors are welcome to wear the formal national dress of their country.

    Ladies
    (including children over 12)

    Ladies are expected to maintain a  suitable standard in keeping with the  dignity of the Members’ Enclosure.  Younger children accompanied by an  adult must be suitably attired. Overseas  visitors are welcome to wear the formal  national dress of their country.

    Members' Guest 
    As a VRC Member, you have a responsibility to ensure that your guests introduced into the Members’ Enclosure are dressed appropriately, in line with the required dress standard.
