Join us on ANZAC Day for our traditional tribute to the courageous men and women who have served our nation.

The eight-race program is highlighted by the running of the $151,500 VRC St. Leger (2800m).

A ceremony will take place in the Mounting Yard to acknowledge the roles horses and jockeys played in the war. Current and Returned servicemen and women are welcome to participate in the formal proceedings.

ANZAC Day Appeal pins will be available for purchase at selected on course venues, and soldiers from the Watsonia RSL will also be roving on the day selling.

ANZAC Exhibition

Visit the curated ANZAC Day exhibition in the Heritage Centre, featuring the Emirates Melbourne Cup.

The exhibition will be open 12-4.30pm and entry is free.

Maluckyday

Take the opportunity to get up close to Emirates Melbourne Cup placegetter and fan favourite, Maluckyday. Located in stall 124, he will be available for photos and a pat throughout the day. He will also represent the fallen Australian war horses in the ANZAC Day ceremony at 2pm.

Children's activities

Free children's activities will take place in the Kids’ Zone, located at the West End of the Public Lawn. Activities cater for children of all ages with various outdoor games, pony rides and arts and craft activities.

Headquarters Tavern

Headquarters Tavern (behind the Hill Stand) will also be offering a complimentary beer, wine or soft drink between 12pm and 1pm to returned servicemen and women upon presentation of appropriate identification. Also, purchase a carvery lunch or roast roll from 12pm-2pm and receive one free beer, wine or soft drink.

General admission

  • Once on sale, tickets can be purchased below. 
  • On raceday, tickets can be purchased at the gate.

VRC Members

  • Guest passes can be purchased, or redeemed via Racing Rewards points.  
  • VRC Members may purchase guest passes from the Raceday & Ticketing Office (not including racecourse admission).

Servicemen & Servicewomen

Complimentary admission will be provided to all current and returned servicemen and women. Veterans, current servicemen and women must present proof of service to gain complimentary admission: 

  • RSL Badge
  • RSL (Service) Membeship Card
  • Return from Active Service Badge
  • Australian Defence Force ID
  • ANZAC Day medals

*Concession is available to Australian Pensioner Concession Card holders, Full-time Student Card holders, Healthcare Card holders, Disability Concession and DVA Gold Card holders.
** Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the racecourse.
^Holder of a Child Disability Allowance Health Care Card, Disability Pension Card or Companion Card.

  • Trains
    Special trains run direct to Flemington Racecourse on racedays. 

    Departing Southern Cross Station

    • Trains will depart from Southern Cross Station (platform 8) between 11.50am - 2.18pm, stopping only at North Melbourne Station (platform 2). 
    • Trains will run approximately every 20 minutes. 

    Departing Flemington Racecourse 

    • Trains will depart Flemington Racecourse (platform 1) between 4.20pm - 6.30pm, stopping only at North Melbourne Station (platform 1) and Southern Cross Station (platform 8).  
    • Trains will run approximately every 20 minutes. 

    All train services are wheelchair accessible and passengers who need help boarding trains should wait on the platform near the front of the train.

    Non-racedays: Catch a train to Newmarket station (Craigieburn line) and then either walk (10mins) or take the No. 57 tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Trams
    From the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street catch the No. 57 West Maribyrnong tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).

    Please note, low-floor trams do not run on Route 57 and it is therefore recommended passengers using a mobility aid should catch the train to the racecourse.

    Buses
    Catch Route 472 bus from Williamstown, Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Fisher Parade. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Riverbank entrance.

    Catch Route 404 bus from Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Smithfield Road. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Stables Drive entrance.

    Gentlemen are required to wear a  suit of tailored slacks (tailored chinos  acceptable), sports coat or blazer, plus  tie and dress shoes. During the period  between 1 December and 31 March  jackets may be removed. Overseas  visitors are welcome to wear the formal national dress of their country.

    Ladies
    (including children over 12)

    Ladies are expected to maintain a  suitable standard in keeping with the  dignity of the Members’ Enclosure.  Younger children accompanied by an  adult must be suitably attired. Overseas  visitors are welcome to wear the formal  national dress of their country.

    Members' Guest 
    As a VRC Member, you have a responsibility to ensure that your guests introduced into the Members’ Enclosure are dressed appropriately, in line with the required dress standard.
