Pin & Win is the VRC's major annual fundraising activity, and in 2015 we are proud to partner with the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Through this program, the VRC has supported charities since in 1995, and has since raised over $4 million for local charities through the sale of the Melbourne Cup souvenir pins.
Every dollar raised through Pin & Win will help support Starlight Express Rooms, which provide programs for seriously ill children and are a medical free haven for sick kids and their families seeking a welcome break from the relentless cycle of medical treatments and procedures.
The Pin & Win campaign will commence in early September, with pins available at Flemington and a range of retail outlets.
Starlight will be the 13th charity to benefit from Pin & Win over the last 20 years, preceded by: SecondBite, Vision Australia, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Challenge Cancer Support Network, Australian Red Cross, Mission Australia, Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, Alfred Hospital, Camp Quality, Kids Help Line, Kids in Crisis and Riding for the Disabled.
In recent news Black Carviar welcomed Starlight to the Flemington family with a very special visit.
2013-2014 Pin & Win sets fundraising record
The VRC partnered with national food rescue charity SecondBite for the Melbourne Cup Carnival in both 2013 and 2014.
In November 2014, SecondBite announced that it had raised more than $1 million over two years as the Pin & Win partner.
The $1 million raised through Pin & Win will allow SecondBite to provide enough food for 2.5 million healthy meals and this result marks the most successful two-year charity partnership in the history of Pin & Win.
In 2013 alone, SecondBite raised over $543,000 during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and this result stands as the current record for one year of Pin & Win.
